The newly-registered Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) says it will impact positively on the lives of the people if voted into power in 2011.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Dennis Aghanaya, said this while speaking with newsmen on Friday in Yola.

Aghanaya said the party was formed to meet the aspirations of the “common Nigerian’’.

According to him, CPC was founded by its presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on the authority of his political associates, hence his official declaration for the party on March 17.

He said the party stood for positive change, stressing that Buhari had made it clear that the party’s presidential ticket could only be given to a person with unquestionable character.

Aghanaya disclosed that the national executive committee of the party had begun a tour of the North East zone for the official inauguration of the party’s secretariats in the region.

He commended Governor. Murtala Nyako’s efforts in providing infrastructure, but called on other governments to address the problems of road, electricity, water and healthcare.

According to him, “the masses are suffering because there are no basic infrastructures”.

On the country’s electoral reform efforts, the CPC spokesperson said: “What the CPC, as a party stands for, is a comprehensive implementation of the Uwais committee report.”
