…Keeps Faith With Amokachi
Daniel Amokachi’s position as Super Eagles assistant coach will not be affected by elimination of Nigeria from the African Nations Championship, according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Amokachi has faced a students backlash since being beaten 2-0 on aggregate by Niger, a team ranked 165th in the world and there have been calls for his replacement, but NFF president Sani Lulu Abdullahi was insistent that was not an option.
“He is not going to be sacked because he only worked as an assistant in the team. Although he took responsibility for the two legs, we are not considering sacking him. He is still part of the Super Eagles for the World Cup”, Lulu said last week.
Amokachi, along with Austin Eguavoen and Alloy Agu, are the three indigenous coaches picked by the NFF to work with Super Eagles Technical Adviser Lars Largerback for the World Cup in three months time.
