Ex-Tide Staff Dies At 69

The death has been announced of a retired staff of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Tide group of newspapers, Chief Michael Wogbo Omenazu of Elibrada, Emohua in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

A statement by a member of the bereaved family, Pastor Chamberlain O. Michael says the late Chief Omenazu died on  January 15, 2010, at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital, Port Harcourt at the age of 69.

Until his retirement from service in June 1996, he was The Tide’s Senior Press Photographer. The statement hinted that he had neither been paid his pension nor gratuity since he was retired, and appealed to the state government to look into the matter and release his entitlements.

His remains, the statement added, would be buried on April 24, 2010.
