Acting President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan has charged Nigerians to learn from the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and increase their sacrifices for the stability and development of the country.
Jonathan made the call yesterday in a remark at an Easter service at Aso Rock Villa Chapel in Abuja.
Dr Jonathan warned that Christians and non-Christians in the country have to make sacrifices that would move the nation forward and not efforts to tarnish the image of the country.
“Only Christ-like life would give the country and its leadership a new aspiration to move the country to the next developmental level”.
The Acting President thus urged Nigerians to pray for the leadership of the nation, pointing out that ‘it is only when a leader rules with the fear and wisdom of God that the society would rejoice.
In a statement, the Vicar incharge of the Aso Rock Chapel, Ven Obiora Onwuozuruba urged the people to always communicate with God in prayer concerning our society, particularly Nigeria and its leadership.
The Catholic Arch Bishop of Abuja, Most Rev John Onaiyekan used the Easter service, yesterday to call on the Acting President to make use of what he Christened God given opportunity to put things aright in the country.
The time for change is now, the Arch-Bishop said, pointing out that Nigeria needs the presence of God to move forward.
