Companies Bid To Manage Sports Facilities In Kaduna

Ten companies are bidding to manage the ultra-modern sports facilities in Kaduna State, following the government’s plan to lease them, the Commissioner for Sports, Shehu Adamu, has said.

The government had said it intended to lease them to avoid under-utilisation and ensure adequate maintenance.

Most of the facilities were installed at the Murtala Mohammed Square for use at the 16th National Sports Festival, hosted by Kaduna in February 2009.

Adamu told newsmen on Friday in Kaduna that the committee responsible for the leasing had concluded its work and that bidding would commence soon.

Adamu, who did not disclose the names of the companies, said that they would be unveiled when the bidding process commenced.

The commissioner called on the contractors who still had outstanding work at the sites to complete them before the actual handing over to facility managers.

Football clubs in the state, especially Kaduna United FC and Kaduna Tennis Academy patronise the facilities regularly.
