The Lagos State chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Prince Adeshina Olayokun has advised the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to reduce Musa Yar’Adua seven point agenda to three for effective implementation and progress.

Olayokun who spoke with newsmen in Lagos said that power and electoral reforms should be part of the new 3-point agenda.

The APGA chairman however, expressed dissatisfaction with the return of some former ministers, arguing that Nigeria needed more technocrats as ministers.

Olayokun also said lauded the decision of Jonathan to oversee the Ministry of Power saying that it was the right move for him to understand better the problems of the sector in order to solve them fast.

Lagos Alliance for Democracy’s Deputy National Chairman, Alhaji Musa Umar agreed with Olayekun that Jonathan’s decision to oversee the Ministry of Power was good and a demonstration of commitment to improve power supply.

The Presidency had announced on Tuesday that Jonathan would oversee the affairs of the ministry.

According to Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicly), Mr. Ima Niboro, the decision was sequel to government’s new policy thrust aimed at overhauling the power sector to achieve improved power supply.

In a separate interview, Umar said the power situation in the country was bad and required such a radical decision.

“The acting president holding unto the power ministry shows that he is very much committed to improved power supply in this country. I think it is a welcome development, but we want to see actions on ground because the power situation seems to be getting worse every day,” the AD chieftain said.

On his expectations from the new cabinet, Umar said the ministers should ensure continuity of programmes and should work hard to improve the lives of Nigerians.
