20 Judokas For Camp African Championship

The Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) has invited 20 judokas to camp in preparation for the African Championships billed to hold in Cameroon from April 14 to April 18.

In a press release, NJF Secretary, Yemi Usikaye, said the federation’s board decided at its meeting held on March 25 to send a team to the continental championships.

Usikaye said the camp would open on April 6 in Abuja and would last till April 12.

He said following the new development, the federation postponed the National Trials earlier fixed to hold from April 5 to April 9 in Abuja.

“The Nigeria Judo Federation at its board meeting held in Abuja agreed that the  country must take part in the African tournament in Cameroon,’’ he said.

The secretary said the board also approved some of the federation’s programmes for the year.

Among the programmes is the Gov. Rotimi Amechi National Championships slated for Port Harcourt in June.

Others are a coaching and referees’ course billed for September 19 to September 22 in Abuja and zonal championships fixed to hold in August simultaneously in Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Ibadan.
