YSFON Begins Registration For Dev Programme In PH

The Rivers State Secretary of Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Mr. Collins Wejinya, has called on all youth football clubs within the 23 local government areas of the state to register their teams for the 2010 YSFON soccer season.

Mr. Wejinya, made the call recently in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.

According to him, the registration will also be for the 15th edition of the state YSFON Grassroot Sports \ Human Development Programme would embrace youth players including boys and girls from the ages of 12 to 18 years old.

The registration forms are available at the YSFON, secretariat at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex, Port Harcourt during the week days.

He explained that male players in the junior category from age 12,13,and 14 are expected to be in the weight brackets of 35kg, 45kg and 51kg respectively.

While in the senior category the under 16, 17 and 18 boys are to be within the weight categories of 58kg, 60kg and 65kg respectively, saying that facial outlook would be used to determine the age bracket of players, where in doubt.

He sated that collection of registration forms would end on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 and that late registration would not be encouraged.

Meanwhile, cash awards, trophies, medals, T-Shirts and soccer Diploma certificates will be added incentives during this year’s championship.

The tournament is sponsored annually by the Rivers State Government, in fulfilling her human development programme and making the youth explore their potentials.
