Sharks Stadium Is Safe – Iyaye

Sequel to the fracas and harassment of sports journalists last weekend at Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt stadium, the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports Hon. Boma Iyaye has said the stadium is safe for fans and football lovers to watch any tournament.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the press officer of the ministry, Juliana Masi.

According to the commissioner there is enough security to secure lives and property of anybody who comes to the stadium, adding that he did not know that some persons harassed journalists after the match between Sharks and Dolphins.

Hon. Iyaye, further dissociated himself from trouble makers who harassed journalists under the pretence that they acted on his instructions.

“I use this forum to caution those who try to forment trouble during football matches,

I also apologise to all Sports Journalists who were harassed and video tapes were seized, during the match, Iyaye said.

The Sports Commissioner said that efforts geared towards forestalling future occurrence and putting in place of adequate security were on at the stadium, to enable journalists carry out their duties effectively without molestation.
