PTF Accepts Lagerback For Super Eagles Job
The Presidential Task Force on FIFA 2010 World Cup (PTF) has accepted the choice of Swede Lars Lagerback as the Super Eagles Manager for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The acceptance was contained in the communique of the PTF after a meeting at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Monday.
The document was signed by PTF chairman, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi.
A copy of the communique made available to newsmen yesterday said the PTF wanted Lagerback retained for the next five years.
The meeting resolved: “that the Report of the Ad-Hoc Committee that interviewed the Super Eagles Manager, Lars Edvin Lagerback, be adopted.
“That Lagerback should be hired as the Manager of the Super Eagles for the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
“That the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should explore the possibility of retaining Lagerback for the next five years as the Super Eagles Manager to develop the game of football in Nigeria”.
The NFF had last Friday, after interviewing five foreign coaches, named Lagerback as the team’s technical adviser and said he would be unveiled today with his assistants in Abuja.
