Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau has relaxed the 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. curfew imposed on Jos after the January 17 crisis in some communities near the city.

A government statement said the curfew would now hold between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The statement, issued by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Gregory Yenlong, in Jos on Friday, stated that Jang, in consultation with the State Security Council, approved the review of the curfew.

The governor advised the people to adhere strictly to the new curfew hours, remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the security agencies.

He urged the people to remain calm and desist from rumour mongering to avoid diverting the attention of security personnel from discharging their duties.
