Owerri Fans Angry With Heartland FC
The fans of Heartland FC of Owerri are unhappy with the players and officials of the club for playing a 1-1 draw with visiting Niger Tornadoes of Minna on Sunday in Owerri.
The fans apparently not pleased with the lack-luster performance of the team, called for their immediate disbandment.
They said it became necessary if they would make a head way in their remaining matches of the league and participate in the CAF Champions League.
Coach Kelechi Emeteole told newsmen after the match that the team could not click in the game because many of their key players were either outside the country or on national assignment.
He said that the midfielders, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu and Uchenna Agba, who would have fed the attackers with balls were absent.
“Many of the players are outside, the thing is affecting the team’s performance.
“ Today we had no middle, this people out played us in the middle, Ibenegbu and Agba would have organised the game for the attackers to deliver,’’ Emeteole said.
He, however, said that the team would recruit new players to inject fresh blood for better days ahead.
Ladan Bosso, Niger Tornadoes’ coach said that he expected a tough game against Heartland and prepared purposefully for that.
“I am impressed that the players did not disappoint me,’’ he said.
