OBALGA Boss, Others Donate Computers To Library
The chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, Hon. Timothy Nsirim has promised to donate two sets of computer to the newly opened Rumumanyawada Community library, Ogbogoro Town in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State.
The councilor representing the community in the Local Government Council, Hon. Precious Ikezam also promised a computer set while the General Overseer of Souls Ablaze Ministries International, Port Harcourt, Rev. Samuel Richards promised to boost the library with another computer and internet facility.
These pledges were made last Saturday during the commissioning and dedication of the ultra modern Rumumanyawada community centre at Ogbogoro.
In his speech, Hon. Timothy Nsirim who was the special guest described the day as special in his life as according to him, “I have seen a new thing, since my administration as council chairman, this is the second time I’m seeing this kind of self-help project by a community, the first was at Rumuepirikom”.
The Local Government boss commended the efforts of Rumumanyawada community over the project and stated that “it is only a community that has reasonable people that you can see this kind of edifice”.
He lauded the return of peace to Ogbogoro community and enjoined the indigenes to sustain the peace by abstaining from vices and descrided the Rumumanyawada Community Centre as the beginning of development of the area.
Dedicating the project to God, the General Overseer of Souls Ablaze Ministries International, Rev. Samuel Richards stressed the need for chiefs and elders of the community to rule with the fear of God.
Rev. Richards enjoined the rulers to ensure fairness in their judgements while he counseled the youths: “If you must fulfill your destiny, you must have the fear of God”.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Lawrence Chuku urged other communities to emulate the people of Rumumanyawada.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the Building/Commissioning Committee, Barr. Sunny Wama said the library which is embedded in the Community Hall was named after their late illustrious son, Syder Chuku and enjoined youths to cultivate reading culture.
“We equally implore well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies to donate books and other relevant accessories to enrich the library, thereby contributing to the mental capacity of our teeming youths and the entire reading public”, Barr. Wama stated.
