Despite the indefinite suspension clamped on Sharks FC by the Nigeria Football Federation  (NFF) which officially commenced on Monday, one of the two top contenders of the chairmanship position in the Nigeria Premier League election Dr. Sam Sam Jaja says that cannot affect his chances of winning.

Jaja said this in a radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt yesterday, saying that the suspension would affect him personally but would not deter his chances to win the elections.

“I am optimistic that, I will win the election. I don’t see the suspensions affecting my chances of winning because the electorates will vote and Sharks is not directly part of the electorate “he said.

According to him, he reacted sequel to reports that the club that endorsed his nomination form to contest the NPL board election has been indefinitely suspended.

It will be recalled that Dr. Jaja, who was the former president of Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) while briefing sports journalists in Port Harcourt, recently said that the election would not be a do or die affairs, saying that there must always be one winner in any contest.

He stated that if Victor Baribote wins he would support him and if he wins, Baribote should also support him .

“There is no need for us to divide one house, Baribote has worked hard but that cannot stop my own ambition of becoming the chairman of NPL”.
