The Oja Oba Grade C Customary Court in Osogbo, has ordered a couple to undergo a DNA test to determine the paternity of their 12-months-old baby.
Mr Rashidi Adeniyi on Thursday dragged his wife, Bosede to the court following a disagreement over the biological father of the baby.
Bosede had told her husband that another man was the biological father of the baby, but Adeniyi is asking the court to declare him the rightful father of the baby.
Adeniyi told the court that as at May 2008, his wife was pregnant, but they had a misunderstanding, which made her to leave him, but returned after a few months.
He said the wife put to bed on Jan. 20, 2009 and that he sponsored the naming ceremony.
“I am surprised to hear from her that another man impregnated her,” Adeniyi said.
Bosede said she met another man who impregnated her when she left her matrimonial home and before the misunderstanding between her and the plaintiff was settled.
She admitted that her husband was responsible for the expenses of the baby’s naming ceremony “but I have earlier informed him that another man was responsible for the pregnancy.”
The President of the court, Chief Gabriel Oparanti, told the couple to prepare for DNA test at Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, on April 8.
He also directed Bosede to invite the second lover for the test.
