Don Advocates For Construction Industry

The Chairman of Construction Project Management, School of Built Environment, Hariot Wait University, Scotland, professor Stephen Ogunlana has advocates for the establishment of a construction Industry Development Board in Nigeria.

  Professor Ogunlana made the call at a lecture organised by the University of Lagos (UNILAG), School of Postgraduate studies recently.

  Speaking on theme “Sustaining Vision 20:2020 through construction: A stakeholder participatory Approach, he said that the development of manufacturing sector depends on the availability of Construction Industry Development Board.

  He said “focusing solely on the need for industrial transformation to enable the country to compete with other countries, there was to be massive programme for development the manufacturing sector adding that it should require building the factories that normally support manufacturing.

  The University lecturers further stated that the establishment of the Board was become imperative to provide warehouse for raw materials and finished goods pending their movement from the sources to where they are needed.

Consequently he canvassed for an aggressive development of transportation routes like roads, rail and other means of transportation to facilitate these movements.
