Delta, Obasanjo Farms Partner On Chicken Processing
The Delta government has announced a partnership with Obasanjo Farms Ltd to build a chicken processing factory in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.
Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan disclosed this when Chief Nduka Okwechime, the National President of Izu-Anioma, led members of the group on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Asaba.
He said that land had been provided by the state government for the Obasanjo Farms Ltd, owned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to start the project.
Uduaghan said the project would enable the people of Delta, who were engaged in poultry production, to process their produce for local consumption and for export.
The governor congratulated the group for signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Pan Ocean Oil Corporation which assigned 20 per cent of its equity by a deed to Izu Anioma.
He said the deal, consummated through the group’s holding company, Izu Anioma Energy Ltd, would create wealth in Delta.
Uduaghan commended the people of Anioma in Delta North Senatorial District for creating an enabling environment for government to provide social amenities and bring development to the state.
Earlier, Okwechime said the visit was the first that the people of Anioma were meeting with a serving governor.
He said the group was mobilising all communities and traditional rulers in the nine local government areas of Anioma for a civic reception for Uduaghan on April 3 in Asaba.
He said that Obasanjo had indicated interest to attend the reception billed for the Delta Cenotaph ground.
