APGA Urges Nigerians To Resist Unpatriotic Elite
The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) on Thursday called on Nigerians to resist elite holding down the country’s development.
Mr Nkem Lemchi, APGA Secretary in Lagos State, told newsmen that the call became imperative following Nigeria’s lack of notable development 50 years after independence.
Nigeria is a country blessed with both human and natural resources that if properly harnessed can make the country great, but the leaders have failed the people.
“All that we should do is to rise up and hold our destiny in our hands; we should rise up and condemn the ills that are holding Nigeria down”, he said.
Lemchi noted that Nigeria could not rise to the height it was destined for until the people say no to the leaders that have held the country in bondage.
The APGA secretary also berated the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, for calling for the division of Nigeria along religious lines.
“It is not by splitting Nigeria into two that will solve the country’s problems. What happens to those who are neither Christians nor Muslims but are also in a very large number”, he queried.
Lemchi stressed that there was no basis for such division, adding that anybody who was talking about division in the country was living on illusion.
“How can we divide when other countries are coming together? We have a better advantage being together”, he said.
The scribe appealed to all Nigerians to condemn in strong terms the call, adding “they should not look at it from an emotional point of view.
“How can a man who was an advocate of African Integration call for the splitting of Nigeria”, Lemchi added.
