Anyim Donates N10m To Ebonyi PDP Campaign Team
Chief Pius Anyim, a former Senate President has donated N10 million to the PDP campaign team in Ebonyi.
Anyim made the donation last Friday in Isiaka, headquarters of Ivo Local Government, where he hails from, when the team visited the area as part of its enlightenment tour of councils in the state.
The former senate president, who was appearing publicly since reconciling with his political opponents in the area, said that the donation was to assist the team in its campaign activities.
“Whatever I am today was achieved through the platform of the PDP in the state and I would utilise every opportunity at my disposal to show them my appreciation,” he said.
Anyim said he decided to reconcile with his political opponents because he realised that the problems were militating against the growth of the party in the council and the state in general.
“Ivo local government area is one of the bedrock of the party in the state and when we allow ourselves to be enmeshed in the quagmire of conflicts, it allows dissidents to thwart every move aimed at moving the party forward,” he said.
He noted that the state governor and the leadership of the party in the state have performed tremendously well and should be allowed to continue with their good works in their respective offices.
“The state governor has transformed the state economically and socially within a short period while the state chairman of the party has succeeded in uniting the party despite all odds,” he said.
Anyim’s successor as the Senator representing Ebonyi South senatorial zone at the National Assembly, Chief Anyim Ude, urged the people to ensure violent-free state.
“Those who are sponsoring violence in various parts of the state should remember the sufferings that were encountered before the state was created and also realise that they are jeopardising the future of our children,” he said.
Gov. Martin Elechi, who was represented by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Augustine Nwankwagu, stated that there would be no automatic ticket for any political office holder in the state.
“Every party member is free to contest for any position under its platform in the state provided that the indicated position is zoned to the area where the contestant comes from,” he said.
Chief Celestine Eze, Chairman of the local government said that the council has endorsed the governor for a second term in office.
He also presented a bus to party in the council.
