6,785 Teachers Get Promotion
The Adamawa State Government has approved the promotion of 6,785 teachers, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Salihu Bakari, has said.
Bakari told newsmen in Yola that the state government also upgraded 2,085 teachers who were due for promotion.
He expressed concern over the massive failure of secondary schools students in the recent NECO and WAEC examinations, describing the development as “a major challenge.”
Bakari called on the federal government to take steps to revive the education sector through the formulation of result-oriented policies.
The chairman commended the Education Trust Fund for releasing N400 million to Adamawa SUBEB between 2008 and 2009.
He said the money was spent on the establishment of three new junior secondary schools as well as construction of classrooms for primary schools in the 21 local governments.
