2011: NDM Adopts AC As Consensus Platform

The National Democratic Movement (NDM) has adopted Action Congress (AC) as the consensus platform for the 2011 general election in the country.

To facilitate the actualisation of the goal, the Action Congress will be totally restructured to accommodate new members from other political parties. With the aim of forming a stronger force to defeat PDP come 2011.

The Action Congress (AC) leader in Rivers State, Prince Tonye J.T. Princewill in a statement signed by party’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Eze Chukwuemaka Eze said that the restructuring will involve the dissolution of all its structures at all levels in order to give new entrants a sense of belonging.

Consequently, Prince Princewill has had stakeholders’ meeting of Action Congress (AC) and other members to intimate them about the resolutions. Various groups in the party reportedly supported the move and pledged to support the efforts of the Kalabari politician to give a new lease of life to the emerging political platform.

“All the groups including the organised apposition parties passed a motion supporting and embracing the concept and spirit of the NDM. They also mandated the Prince to represent and defend the interest of all the groups in the whole NDM arrangement”, the statement stated.

According to the statement, the groups comprising of four south-south states of Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom also advocated for a level playing group for intending  members of NDM.

Comrade Cletus Obunu who spoke on behalf of the four south-south states assured the leadership of NDM of their continuous support and promised to effectively mobilise membership in their respective states.

Princewill had noted that the period of relegating to the background the political affairs concerning the south-south region is over in the nation’s polity and urged the people of the region to rise to the challenge of taking the destiny of the region in their hands.
