Rivers FADAMA Disburses N28.09m To Farmers
As part of the state government’s efforts towards boosting food production in the state, the Rivers State Fadama III co-ordinating office has disbursed the sum of N28,097,243.00 as grants to various Fadama Community Associations in the state.
The amount was disclosed by the Rivers State Fadama Projects Co-ordinator, Kingsley Amadi, during a two-day supervision mission in Port Harcourt by the Zonal Fadama co-ordination office, South South region.
The State Fadama project co-ordinator, told the zonal team, led by Dr Isaiah Toby that a number of the farmers projects, and sub projects are on-going, while some have been compeleted and have commenced production and marketing.
On facilities and projects inpection the team visited Ogbakiri and Omudioga respectively in Emohua Local Government of Rivers State where Fadama had completed the grading of Ogbakiri access roads and oil palm milling plant financed by Fadama II project for Dynamic Youths of Omudioga which has commenced the processing of oil palm at the rate of 200 litres of palm oil per day, as well as Omudioga Fadama Community Association Water Project nearing completion.
Other projects visited include, Alioma Omudioga Cassava Farm project under cultivation and a mini cold room at ubima in Ikwerre Local Government Area, financed by Fadama II project for Ubima Fadama Community Association.
Speaking shortly after the visit at Omudioga, the zonal coordinator, South-South Fadama Coordination office, Dr Isaiah Toby said the aim of the mission is to monitor the level of Fadama III project implementation in South-South zone and to identify project implementation in South-South zone and to identify problems affecting the implementation and execution of the projects in the state, as well as proffer solutions that would benefit the rural farmers. He said the mission will cover Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers States.
