Chairman of the Forum of Organised Opposition Parties (FOOP), Opobo/Nkoro chapter, Hon. Christian Finebone has condemned the view that opposition in Rivers State was becoming weak due to the unity government.

Finebone in an exclusive chat with the Tide, Friday asserted that such views were baseless, as the era for combative opposition has elapsed.

In his words, “we don’t believe in the empty posturing that have failed the old politicians. We believe in intellectual opposition”.

Finebone, who is also the spokeman for the chairman of FOOP in Rivers State, Chief Ibiamu Ikanya that what is needed in the state now is understanding and cooperation by all opposition parties which, according to him, had informed the formation of FOOP in Rivers State.

He frowned at the low pace of work in some of the ongoing projects in the state saying some of the contractors had taken excessive holidays thereby delaying delivery of some of the projects.

Finebone asserted that if the delay subsists, “then the rains would soon come and further setback construction activities for the year”.

On the other hand, the Opobo/Nkoro FOOP boss has called the chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. Maclean Uranta to beef up efforts in the transformation of the area.

The FOOP chairman in ONOLGA said “we feel that the performance of the LGA against budget is abysmal, but we need to confirm that during our appraisal of some of the projects against his budget so “far”

Finebone lauded the Rivers State Government for the massive sandfilling project at Opobo Town, including the Unity Road, noting that these projects would stamp the Amaechi administration in the minds of people yet unborn in the LGA.
