‘Nigeria Should Immortalise Rex Lawson’
A human rights activist and patron of Rex Lawson Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Barr. Faye Dikio has reiterated the need to immortalise the late highlife music icon, Late Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson.
Barr Dikio, who made this assertion while addressing members of the body during a meeting in his office, in Port Harcourt said the late highlife king had made the state and indeed the country proud in highlife music, adding that he deserved honour and recognition.
He said the leader of Mayors Dance Band of Port Harcourt was a philosopher, whose music had changed the lives of many citizens, stressing that such a person had to be recognised by the government and celebrated annually.
He charged the members to ensure that they acquire an office for easy communication and contacts, to befit his status in the society.
The patron charged them to strive hard to expand the body of patrons and launching of the book on Late Rex Jim Lawson as part of efforts to keep his memory alive.
Barrister Dikio further enjoined them to set terms of reference for their activities, constitute themselves into committees to achieve result, and charged them not to relent in their efforts.
In their separate reactions, the President, Sopriala Bob-Manuel and the vice president, De Don suggested incorporation of Rex Lawson’s children into the body and that they are ready to partner with other Non – Governmental organisations (NGO) in youths training.
Meanwhile, membership of the Rex Lawson Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution is still open for interested persons inorder to give the highlife music maestro a sense of belonging.
