The Senate has denied an alleged plot to impeach President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and his vice, Goodluck Jonathan.

The chairman Senate Committee on Information, Senator Ayogu Eze debunked the allegation while reacting to media report that the Senate leadership was in favour of impeaching President Yar’Adua and the Vice President.

Senator Eze said that such issue was never discussed by the Senate leadership, stressing that what the upper legislative chamber had said was for President Yar’Adua to send his vacation notice.

He used the occasion to call on the media to be wary of persons who do not wish the country well.

Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on the Allocation of Federal Government Houses has summoned the Minister of State in the Works and Housing Ministry, Mrs Grace Ekpire to appear before it , February 15 to clear allegation over the whereabouts of over N1billion reportedly missing from the ministry’s coffers and other cases of gross misconduct levelled against her.

The invitation which was made available to the press indicated that the minister was being invited to clear the air over the alleged missing billion of naira said to be proceeds from sales of federal government houses and accrued interests.

The senate committee had alleged that the minister and the Presidential Committee on the Allocation of Federal Government Houses, which she heads had on this matter refused to honour the Senate Committees investigative hearing and further refused to make relevant records available to auditors appointed by the Senate, but appointed her own committee to review the records.
