About 600 ex-militants are to be rehabilitated by the Rivers State Government this year.
Chairman, Rivers State Special Rehabilitation Committee, Chief Albert Horsefall disclosed this yesterday at the Social Rehabilitation Centres Okehi, while addressing the second batch of  ex-militants. Chief Horsefall also said that the government would no longer pay any take-off grant for any of the trainees as was done in 2009 to avoid the experiences of the past where some beneficiaries squander their grants.
He explained that those who were successful at the training would be enlisted in cooperative societies, while the government would take care of their stipends.
The committee chairman urged them to reciprocate the gesture by remaining law abiding, adding that the committee has designed programmes that would turn then into responsible men and women in the society.
According to him, various skills would also be impacted on them, stressing that at the end of the training, a grade II Trade Test certificate would be issued to them by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
In their responses, both Mr Gospel Okaoha from Oduoha Ogbakiri in Emohua Local Government Area and Miss Joy Edo from Khana in Khana Local Government Area, thanked the Rivers State Government for considering them worthy for the  programme and promised to remain law abiding.
