Three heavily armed men, at about 8.00pm Wednesday, stormed the country home of Senator Paulker Emmanuel, and took away his 73 year old mother, Florence Paulka
The woman and her family members were said to be relaxing at their Opolo home, a suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital when the hoodlums arrived.
The intruders were said to have ordered all the occupants of the house to lie face down or risk being shot.
According to The Tide source, the hoodlums later left with their victim after shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away.
A grand son of the victim who pleaded anonymity told journalists that pleadings to the gang to spare the old woman fell on deaf ears as they threatened to kill her unless she followed them.
The state police Public Relation Officer, Mr Solomon Omoemin, an Assistant Superintendent of police (ASP) confirmed the story, saying that investigation into the incident has begun.
As at the time of filing this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack and no ransom has been demanded.
