The Peoples Demo-cratic Core Supports Network (PCSN) and the Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) have hailed the decision of the Senate to end the leadership vacuum by allowing Vice President Goodluck Jonathan act as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria pending the return of President Yar’Adua from a Saudi Arabian hospital.

In a joint statement in Port Harcourt, the Chairman of PCSN, Hon. Chinda Ogbuji Evans and the Vice President of NDYC, Comrade Chinwendu Isaac Ordunwa described the Senate action as timely.

They noted that the emergence of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as Acting President will among other things usher in the new dawn for the nation, and charged Jonathan to seize the opportunity to address the lingering Niger Delta problems.

“Jonathan should use the opportunity given to him to salvage the situation in the country.

Do not follow or treat any issue with sentiment, but treat them as natural as they come”, the groups said.

They also called on Niger Deltans especially the youths to exercise patience assuring that with Jonathan at the helm of affairs, their desires will  be met.
