…Disburses N1.9bn To LGAs

The 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State received a total sum of 903,943,957.87 being statutory allocation for the month of December, last year, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr Tammy Danagogo has revealed.

He did so in a statement made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt at the weekend.

According to  Danagogo, the December allocation to local government areas was down by N5m from  November 2009.

The commissioner said Abua/Odual Local Government Area got N91,583,057,40 as allocation, Ahoada East N72,714,081.66 while Ahoada West got N87,998 259.43 for the period under review.

Others are Akuku Toru N76,962,153,03, Andoni N80, 955,542.03, Asari Toru N77,730,831.83 and Bonny Local Government Area got N82,732,459.06.

In like manner, he further said Degema Local Government Area received N87,902,384.79, Eleme, N83,246,487.71, Emohua N76,320,173,83, Etche N85,455,736.56 and Gokana N81,818,540.93.

The rest are Ikwerre N76,428,389.68, Khana N93,234,194.58, Obio/Akpor N112,874,075,07, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni N92,409,319.10.

Ogu/Bolo N62,061,685.10 and Okrika N81,415,164.65. The rest are Omuma N66,607,587.78, Opobo/Nkoro N74,648,508.67, Oyigbo N66,731,306.02, Port Harcourt N119,371,981.01 and Tai LGA receiving N72,742,041.95.

The state Local Government commissioner also stated that the Local Government Service Commission received N16,026,834.35, Rivers State Local Government Pension Board N92,956,171,22, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers N120,486,842.33 while the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board got N275,632,5590.00.

Danagogo explained that the main reason for making public various allocations to the councils was in furtherance of Governor Chibuike  Rotimi Amaechi’s policy of accountability and transparency in handling of public funds.
