Armed Men Raid Police Station …Cart Away Arms, Ammunition

Persons suspected to be militants, yesterday, raided a Divisional Police Headquarters in Bomadi, Bomadi Local Government Area  of Delta State , carting away  arms and ammunition from the armoury.

Investigation revealed that the suspected militants, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the station at about 12 midnight and headed to the armoury, removing a serviceable AK47 riffle with number AB340484, and  an unserviceable G3 riffle with number 115467.

Reliable sources also said that one of the police officers, one Mr. Godwin Alozie, attached to the station, was beaten to coma during the raid. The victim’s condition was said to be very critical as at the time of filing this report.

 The State Commissioner of Police Mr. Yakubu Alkali , who visited the scene of the crime expressed shock and vowed to fish out the perpetrators, saying that it was a breach of the peaceful posture the state had assumed for some time now.  

In a similar vein, some Staff of the Young Shall Grow Motors, a private transportation company   have been arrested in connection with a robbery attack on the company’s  Vehicle at Isele Azagba area, along Asaba- Benin Express, few kilometers away from Asaba.

The suspects included the man who searched all the passengers before they boarded the Lagos bound vehicle with registration number XY 666EPE at Onitsha .

According to sources, three of the passengers who were searched later turned out to be bandits. Few minutes after the vehicle  crossed the Niger bridge to Delta State, one of the robbers pulled out a gun from his waist and ordered other passengers to surrender all their belongings

The passengers later reported the incident at Ogwuashi- Ukwu police station. 

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Charles Muka said investigation into the matter was in progress.
