2011 Elections ’ll Be Free, Fair …Jonathan Assures Bush

The Acting President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, has assured the international community that the 2011 general elections will be free and fair.
He gave the assurance yesterday when he received in audience, the immediate past President of the United States of America, George W.Bush (Jnr) at Abuja.
Dr Jonathan said government would work harder by ensuring that the electoral process was transparent and reflects the wishes of the Nigerian people.
He urged the United States Government to reconsider its stance not to expunge Nigeria from list of countries under terror watch.
Dr Jonathan noted that Nigeria and United States were strategic partners on global peace and development and thanked the USA for its concern over the health of ailing President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Responding, former President Bush congratulated Acting President Jonathan on his assumption of office, adding that in life sometimes the unexpected happens.
Bush noted that with God’s grace and with the support of the people, Dr Jonathan would succeed, and wished him the best in his new position.
Former President Bush was accompanied by his former Secretary of States, Ms Condeleza Rice.
