Polo Club Lauds Amaechi
The management of Rivers State Polo Club has commended the state governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi for his tremendous support for the programmes and activities of the club.
The commendation was made by president of the club, Barrister Zubi Nwuke, during the closing ceremony of the 2010 Niger Delta Peace Polo Tournament at the club.
Nwuke noted that the governor has been a good partner in progress as the club strives to take polo to greater heights in the Niger Delta region and Nigeria in general.
Eight clubs participated in the 2010 polo tournament with bullwark services, Desicon, OK I and Bob Manuel construction winning their opponents.
The Governor’s Cup among others was won by Presidential Hotel Port Harcourt team led by Captain Victor Fingesi.
Meanwhile, the governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning at the occasion, Hon Gogo Levi Charles, has reiterated that the state was safe for investors.
He stated that the state was peaceful and safe for people to come in and invest.
Hon. Charles wondered why things that happen, in the state are given undue publicity, stating that, “crime is all over the world”.
On the demolition of slums in the state, he said that this was done to ensure that there was no hideouts for hoodlums, especially now that government is working towards achieving a crime-free State.
Other dignitaries that graced the ceremony included Hon Odein Ajumogobia, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Secretary to Rivers State Government, Hon Magnus Abe, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, among others.
