After world governing body, FIFA listed 28 Nigerian referees in various sectors of the round leather game for 2010, chairman of Kano Pillars Football Club, Babangida Tukur has hailed the impact of the country’s arbiters in developing the domestic front.

Tukur said in an interview with brilla fm.net that he believes the English Premier League has contributed immensely and influenced the growth of Nigerian match officials in recent time.

They are doing very well, as far as I am concerned. That’s why we are having draws or winning away games.

“Maybe the way our people have seen the European league, the Premier League in England, where all team will go to another team’s venue and that will lose by two or three goals.

“It now happens here, since a team will have the proof of going to the other person’s home venue and winning, like what we have been seeing in the British and European Leagues.

“Our referees are doing pretty well and I believe, if they continue, FIFA will appreciate what they are doing and call them for the World Cup,” he reasoned.
