Osun Begins 10-Year- Education Plan
Osun State Government has evolved a 10-year strategic education sector plan and a three-tier state education sector operational plan to address the poor standard of education in the state.
Commissioner for Education, Jelili Adesiyan disclosed this at a meeting with stakeholders for development of the education sector plan.
The commissioner, who was represented by the director of Osun State Mass Education Agency (OSMEA), Mrs. Grace Ibidun Omojoyegbe, pointed out that education was an instrument for empowerment, hence the desire for development, so that the future of children in the state would be assured and protected.
The commissioner also said the free education programme being implemented in the state does not discriminate between children of the rich and the poor, hence all stakeholders are called upon to offer useful suggestions for improvement and perfection of the system.
He stated further that the Federal Ministry of Education had presented a road map aimed at addressing most challenges facing the education sector, particularly in areas of access and equity, standard and quality assurance, technical and vocational education and training, as well as in funding and resource mobilisation and utilisation.
He thanked all participants for the interest shown in developing education in the state, particularly in the future of children.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adunade Amoo, said education was the foundation upon which all other sectors are built, hence the need for a strong foundation.
