Obi Grants Amnesty To Prisoners

The Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi has granted amnesty to 15 prisoners serving various jail terms in Awka, Onitsha, Enugu, Oji-river and Ibitelo prisons.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mike Udoh. The office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice had listed the inmates as Ebuka Ibe, Sunday Chukwuka, Onyeka Akudu, Okechukwu Okeke and Obinna Onuegbu, who were serving jail terms at Ibiteolo, Oji-River and Enugu prisons.

Others are chijioke Onyebuchi, Azubuike Nwobi, Ugonna Okafor and Okwudili Ojobor from Awka prisons.

Also are: Chidozie Ike, Samon Emmanuel, Nduka Okolo, Izunna Okonkwo, Ndubuisi Udoba, linus Ezeugo from Onitsha prisons.

In his new year message, Governor Obi called on the people to turn a new leaf in 2010 especially in their attitude towards politics.

He said that politics is about service to the people and should therefore be pursued with a sense of moral decency and fear of God.
