The Enugu State Governor, barrister Sullivan I. chime, has described the former Nigerian First Lady Miriam Babangida as a selfless woman leader who dedicated her life to empowerment of the less privileged with emphasis on the women and the girl child.

Governor Chime who made his feelings known in a statement issued in Enugu, which was also made available to journalists, therefore recalled the giant strides she made with her Better Life for Rural Women programme during the Babangida Administration in the country.

According to him, the former First Lady had remained a role model and an inspiration for millions of women, especially here in Nigeria.

Governor Chime thus commiserated with General Babangida (rtd), urging him and the entire Babangida family to find solace in the legacies the former Frist Lady left behind, especially in the education of children, a project she passionately pursued until her death.

Chime on behalf of his wife, Clara, the government and the people of Enugu State prayed for the repose of her gentle soul.
