Group Ends Fasting And Prayers For Yar’Adua

Members of the Rivers State Chapter of the Yar’Adua For New Nigeria Organisation ended yesterday a one week fasting and prayers for divine intervention in the health of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
The seven days fasting and prayers held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital was focused on the desire for the quick recovery of President Yar’Adua and his earnest return to assume duty.
Addressing participants, the Rivers State Co-ordinator of the Yar’Adua For New Nigeria, Barrister Daddy West recounted the leadership qualities of the president, adding that it was unfortunate that President Yar’Adua fell ill at a time when Nigerians were beginning to savour the benefit of true democratic culture.
Barrister West said the nation was going through steady transformation at various levels of development participation in the implementation of the 7-Points Agenda.” The 7 Points Agenda of Mr President is a well thought out plan to place Nigeria amongst the committee of developed nation,” he said.
He thanked members of the organisation and the people of Rivers State for identifying with President Yar’Adua at this critical moment of need, urging the people of continue in their prayers for the quick recovery of the president.
“President Yar’Adua is one man that has actually handled the issue of the Niger Delta with sincerity and commitment to bring succour to the people who have suffered a long period of neglect and degradation of their environment,” he said.
“According to him, the present situation requires nothing but fervent prayers for the health of the president and the wellbeing of the nation rather than play up unnecessary sentiment that could further jeopardise the socio-political advancement of Nigeria.
