The Black Stars of Ghana last night in Angola scarped to the quarter final stage of the Africa Cup of Nation, courtesy of a lone goal victory over hard fighting Stallions of Burkina Faso.

Andre Ayew, son of Ghana legend, Abedi Pele Ayew scored with a stooping header in the 30th minute to break the Burkinabes heart and prevent an early crash by  Ghana, one of the favourites for the competition.

Before the game, Ghana had their back against the wall and knew that only a victory can keep their dreams alive.

Burkina Faso on the other hand needed only a point to progress.

Despite dominating possession and some show of individual skills, Burkina Faso failed to break Ghana down and take the chances that came their way.

The Black stars are now the fifth team to reach the last eight teams stage.
