Ghana Gets Essien Boost
Chelsea’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti has delivered a rare piece of good news to Ghana’s Nations Cup hopes by declaring midfielder Michael Essien will be fully fit for the tournament.
Essien has been given permission by Ghana to join up with his colleagues late and Ancelotti says by then he will be more than able to play his part in Ghana’s campaign.
“He will go I think, in one week he will be ready to go to play for the African Cup,” Ancelotti said.
In a week when Ghana has lost John Paintsil to injury and with huge question marks over John Mensah, news of Essien’s recorvery will delight not just Rajevac but the teaming followers of the Black Stars.
In the absence of Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Sulley Muntari, Essien’s presence will be vital for Ghana who are in a group with Togo, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
