Community Head Sues For Peace In Rumuji

As we enter into the new year 2010 the chairman Rumuji Council of Chiefs (RCC) Eze Obed Ovodowho Ekwueme has called on people of Rumuji community in Emohua Local Government Area (EMOLGA) Rivers State to maintain peace, in the community in order to enjoy the dividends of the present democratic dispensation.
The chairman who made the call during an interview with journalists at his palace to mark his one year in office, noted that without peace there would be no meaningful development in the community.
Eze Ekwueme (JP) advised the youths of the community to shun evil and engage in meaningful activities that would bring honour to the community and pride to their parents.
He commended the paramount ruler of the community Ohna Nyechekor I. Kpalekwu and Rev. S.D. Ojims and his peace committee for their positive contributions and support during the chairmanship tussle which was amicably resolved based on the council of chiefs’ constitution and bye laws.
The high chief and Onunokwunu Oha I of Rumuji Community described Rev. Ojims as a humble and trust-worthy man of God whose peace committee saved the community from a repeat of the 1996 chieftaincy crisis.
Eze Ekwueme stressed that during his one year in office two new chiefs were, installed and sworn in as members of the council. They are Chief (Dr) Obi Nkovadu and Chief F.F. Woji who were sworn-in on the 5th and 17th of October 2009 respectively among other achievements which include community development programmes.
