ANOLGA Budgets N2.2bn for 2010

Andoni Local Government Council in Rivers State has presented a budget estimate of N2,196,010,649.409 for the 2010 fiscal year.

Details of the budget made available to The Tide On Sunday in Port Harcourt, shows an increase of N175 million over that of last year.

According to the breakdown, the sums of N56,490,000 and N858,300,000 are expected from both internally generated revenue and the federal allocation respectively.

Also expected is N389,991,179.57 from Value Added Tax, N394,089,469.92 from excess crude, while N497,140,000 is expected from internally generated revenue.

The budget also shows a recurrent expenditure of N1,337,620,649.93, while capital expenditure will gulp N858,389,999.96.

Addressing the local government legislative assembly at Ngo, the council headquarters, the council’s chairman, Hon. Emilia Gilbert Nte said the budget, tagged “Budget of Transformation,” will enable the council to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far.

According to her, key areas such as security, economic development, job creation, poverty reduction and improved sanitary condition of the area will be addressed by the budget.

In his response, the leader of the assembly, Hon. Awajinimam Alofonye Uriah said that the assembly is satisfied with the performances of Hon. Emilia Nte so far, especially her performances within the second half of last year.

He also said that the assembly will look at the provisions of the 2010 budget with a view to giving it speedy passage.
