Amodu Gets Knocks Over Non-inclusion Of Young Players … Angola 2010
A Rivers State born sports analyst, Barrister Jaye Dikio, has condemned Super Eagles Coach Shuaibu Amodu, over his inability to integrate at least one of the Under-17 or 20 player as a member of Super Eagles team featuring at the on-going African cup of Nations in Angola.
In a chat with Tide sports at the weekend in Port Harcourt, Dikio said that the stand of Amodu in refusing to invite some young talented players was bad, adding that the action is capable of bringing down the standard of football in the country.
“Honestly, I expected coach Amodu to invite a player from either Under 17 or 20 to complement the efforts of the old foreign based players in the team”, he said.
He continued that no progress has been recorded by Nigeria since the appointment of Amodu as the Super Eagles coach.
Speaking on Eagles first game against the Pharaohs of Egypt, which ended 3-1 in favour of the opponents, Dikio remarked that almost all the players who featured in the game were not fit.
“Though, I was not expecting any good result from Eagles against Egypt, the margin of the defeat was rather too much”.
A good coach should know when the defence of Eagles anchored by Taye Taiwo, Obina Nwaneri, and Joseph Yobo were not fit for a match like-wise Yakubu Ayegbeni in attack, who seem to be a big minus in the team.
I am yet to know the reason why coach Amodu decided to pull out Mikel Obi in that opening game. I stand to be challenge that Amodu lacks technical knowledge of the game,” he summed up.
