Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has warned that the Rivers State Government will not tolerate any further corruption in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government council.

Governor Amaechi handed down the warning Friday  while swearing-in the caretaker committee chairman of the council, Mr. Andrew Ugworah at Government House Port Harcourt.

The Governor said should the caretaker committee be found perpetrating any form of fraud, the chairman would be prosecuted.

He reminded him that the duly elected council executive of the council was dissolved on the grounds of insecurity in the area and directed him to go back and tackle the situation else he would be held responsible for any breakdown of law and order in the area.

“I will hold you responsible because you are now the Chief Security Officer of the Council”, Governor Amaechi said, emphasizing that the state government wants to have local governments that are peaceful so that the state can develop.  Members of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Council caretaker committee that are to be sworn in later by the caretaker chairman are Mr. Charles Ogbuyi, Mr. Godspower Ahiaidu, Mr. Gift Obulor, Mr. Felix Olisa, Mrs. Mary Wokocha, and Mr. Sunny Obowu.

The appointment of the ONELGA caretaker committee follows the dissolution of the council by the State House of Assembly.
