Sharks Still In Contention For Title

Chief Coach of Sharks FC of Port Harcourt Imama Amapakabo says his team is still in contention for the league title, adding that it is open for any team.

Amapakabo said this while fielding questions from sports journalists shortly after his side defeated Kano pillars 2 – 0 to record three successive wins at the liberation stadium Port Harcourt last weekend.

He explained that the technical crew is working hard to ensure that the players are fit enough to enable them get good results.

“I know that fitness is one of the major problems most of the players have. Consequently, the two weeks break given by the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) was used for fitness training.” We said.

Amapakabo continued that the technical crew is also working on the player specially on how to converting scoring chances is a major problem with Nigerian players because they do not have the patience to co-ordinate themselves at crucial moments on the field.

“Most of our attackers in Nigeria do not have the patience to convert scoring chances at vital areas in the field.

“Consequently,  75 percent of our training seasions is to learn to convert chances because goal is what every team need to win a match,” he stated.

He used the forum to commend his players over their tree consecutive wins and urged them to always keep up the winning mentality.
