SA Restates Commitment To Lagosians
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Works and Infrastructure, Mr Ganiyu Johnson, says it is impossible to qualify the value of life of a Lagos resident, hence the massive deployment of standard street lighting in the metropolis to protect pedestrians and motorists.
At the airing of documentary on the state lighting infrastructure development partnership between Lilleker Brothers Nigeria Ltd and the state government, Johnson said the production of the documentary coincided with the marking of the milestone of 900 days in office by the Babatunde Fashola administration.
The project, he further stated, “cannot be completed at this time with out an independent power source thus ensuring light on the streets during the house of darkness”.
Some of the lighting schemes cited by Johnson, which were designed and installed by Lilleker Brothers, include the Oshodi Market Area Lighting, Mobolaji Bank, Anthony Way, Ikeja, Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Kudirat Abiola Street, Ikeja and the magnificent Marina Lighting Scheme with the largest collection of functional high mast lighting in West Africa.
The firm, a design and build, electrical and mechanical engineering company, has been in Nigeria for 34 years. Its managing director, Trevor Ralton, said, “the drive: consistency and tenacity of Governor Fashola in the direction of infrastructural development is contagious and has fuelled the enthusiasm with which Lilleker executes projects here. In fact, Lilleker considers itself a development partner of Lagos State”.
