RSUOE To Commence Programme On Fraud Management

Plans are underway by the authorities in the newly established Rivers State University of Education to commence a programme on fraud management.

The hint was dropped by the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Rosemund Osa-Oghulu, shortly after receiving an award of merit for being fraud free institution from the Institutions of Fraud Management and Control (IFMC) in Port Harcourt.

Prof Osa-Oghulu told reporters that already the institution has commenced talks with IFMC on course content and nature of programme.

Immediately the plans sail through, she disclosed that in the next six months she is optimistic that the programme would commence.

The university expressed happiness over the award given by the body assuring that the university would ensure that the status is maintained.

Commenting on why there is so much fraud and corruption in the polity, the acting vice chancellor blamed the phenomenon on greed and lack of contentment as displayed by those in authority.

She asserted that when wantonness goes beyond the limited there is tendency for those in the corridors of power to fall prey to the temptation of defrauding the system.

Prof. Osa-Oghulu further asserted that the university would ensure that all acts of corruption within its system is rid off through adequate punitive measures on defaulting staff.

Earlier is his remarks, President of IFMC, Mr Isidore Ojukwu Nwankwo commended the institution for its exemplary status.

So far he stated that survey conducted by an independent body indicates that the school has been upright and transparent in its programme, noting that the award is a call for higher responsibility and fight against corruption in the ivory towers.

He therefore called on the citizenry to give the body the required support to ride the country of corrupt practices.
