The Rivers State Government has released a three digit emergency number to be used for all forms of distress calls across all telecommunication networks operational in the state.

The Secretary to the Rivers State Government Mr Magnus Ngei Abe, stated this Friday night during the Service of Songs in honour of late Hon. Charles Achor Nsiegbe at his residence in Port Harcourt.

Mr. Abe, who stressed the commitment of the state government towards the protection of lives and property, said the state government was investing heavily in the security sector to ensure that people move about freely without molestation.

He said late Hon. Charles Nsiegbe has been a consistent loyalist of Governor Amaechi whose integrity earned him membership of the State Due Process Bureau.

The Secretary to the State Government said the state has lost a progressive and a committed Rivers man but as Christians “we should accept that he has gone to  rest in the bossom of the creator” .

In a tribute, the Anglican Church represented by Mr Felix Odungweru, said late Charles Nsiegbe was a man who kept his words, a church worker who never worried about his private security and so did not keep any private escort.

Speaking on behalf of his friends Hon. Sam Sam Etetegwung said late Nsiegbe was a friend, brother, and dependable colleague, adding that God may have permitted his death because he has fulfilled his assignment on earth.

On behalf of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, Mr Ernest Obi said Charles’ dream was to make the state a hub of film making, and described him as a very generous man.

Senibo Godwin Minimah said late Nsiegbe was a man specially endowed with God’s blessings and advised the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that God knows the best because the way he was killed suggests that it could happen to anyone.

Speaking on behalf of the family Dr  Mrs Mercy Okey-Chindah, said they lack words to capture what he meant to them because he had so much love for the family including the external ones and loved to laugh most times.  The State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, his wife, Dame Judith, members of the State Executive Council and law makers were among several dignitaries that attended the service of songs.
