RIVPOLY Rector Assures On Accreditation Of Programmes
Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori says it is committed to creating new programmes that would be relevant to the needs of the society.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. T. G. Sokari, stated this Wednesday, while receiving officials of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Kaduna, who arrived the state to evaluate some programmes of the Polytechnic.
Prof. Sokari pointed out that the Mass Communication Department was established to train qualified media practitioners to boost information dissemination in line with the mandate given to the Polytechnic to produce requisite manpower for the state and the country.
He used the opportunity to commend the state government and Ministry of Education for the continued assistance especially during accreditation exercise and expressed the hope that all the programmes of the Polytechnic presented to the NBTE would be approved.
Earlier, the leader of the NBTE Team, Mr. J.S. Aboi, said the officials were in the state to inspect some programme and facilities of the State Polytechnic, Bori.
He congratulated the institution for establishing the Mass Communication Department which he said would generate revenue for the Polytechnic.
Mr. Aboi revealed that the National Board for Technical Education, which regulates the standard of academic progreammes in Polytechnics and Colleges of technology in Nigeria, has been mandated to undertake the inspection of facilities in the newly established Mass Communication Department and carry out the re-accreditation of the Insurance and Accountancy programmes.
