Rivers Lawmaker Empowers Constituency Women
A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Okirka Constituency, Hon. Linda Somiari-Stewart, over the weekend empowered twenty women with the sum of N1 million with each of them receiving the sum of fifty thousand Naira.
Speaking during a courtesy visit on her by the Okirka peoples Democratic party (PDP) women leaders, Hon. Stewart stated that the gesture was in fulfillment of her electioneering promises to them.
She recalled the efforts and contributions the women PDP leaders played during her election noting that, she won as a result of their unalloyed support.
“You all participated during my primaries and gave me your support during my election without your supports and assistance I wouldn’t have been here today”, she stated.
The lawmaker averred that the women leaders plays a major role during election adding that they are the ones that encouraged their colleagues to participate in any election.
She thanked them for supporting her and urged the women to invest the money into their trade so as to be able to provide for their families during the coming festival period while assuring them of effective representation in the House of Assembly.
Responding on behalf of the women, Mrs Grace Ilombo thanked the lawmaker for the gesture adding that the money would assist them immensely in their various business.
She assured the Okrika State of Assembly representative of their unalloyed support to enable her succeed at all time.
The highlight of the event was the handing over of the fifty thousand Naira (N50,000) cash donation by Hon. Linda Stewart to each of the women.
