Poly Begins Strike Tomorrow
Academic and None Academic Staff unions in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokwuta may proceed on another round of industrial action tomorrow.
The Joint Action Committee of Staff Unions in the Polytechnic summoned an emergency congress and arrived at a decision for immediate commencement of the strike.
The strike is over non-payment of staff salaries since October, a situation that has disrupted academic and administrative activities in the institution.
The workers decried the late payment of salaries and agreed with the Governing Council that payment of salaries would be latest, 10th of the new month.
Joint Action Committee of Staff Union, however accused the council of not adhearing to the terms of agreement.
In a letter to the Council signed by Mr. D.O. Aninkan (ASUP Chairman), Mr. Jekinmose Odeogbola (NASU Chairman) and Mr. Banjo Ogunsipe (SSANIP), the workers threatened that by 11th of every new month, if staff salaries and allowances are not paid, the Joint Action Congress would meet to take decisive action.
